At SCCE’s recent European Compliance & Ethics Institute, one of the speakers put forth the argument that pushing for “best in class” in compliance programs might be counterproductive. Her point was something along the lines of, “We don’t want our program to be the best; we want it to be good enough.” This is an interesting point, and one that we should consider when discussing all of our wonderful plans for the compliance program with senior management. When we describe our plans by saying they align with best practices, are we potentially doing ourselves a disservice?
