Corruption news: Brazil

Walmart recently settled a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) case with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) related to bribery and corruption involving its Brazilian subsidiary, WMT Brasilia. The case has been ongoing since 2012, and the relatively low fine takes into account Walmart’s efforts to revamp its compliance program. Walmart has also been fined for FCPA offenses in China, India, and Mexico.
