A blueprint for building your champions network

In March 2023, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) updated its Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs.[1] The 2023 amendments include a paragraph listing the factors that DOJ considers in determining whether to prosecute companies for compliance violations. This language states, in part: “Prosecutors should examine whether a company has . . . offered opportunities for managers and employees to serve as a compliance ‘champion.’”

Champions networks are now a DOJ-recommended model for building a compliant culture and mitigating against potential prosecution. Considering this new guidance from DOJ, here’s a six-step blueprint to help get your organization’s champions network up and running.
