We all admire masters. Beethoven, Bach, Beyoncé. The truly gifted among humanity seem to effortlessly execute their genius. Mastery seems to be binary: You’re born with it or you aren’t. Michelangelo had a different take on this. He said, “If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.” [1]
