◆ Eventus WholeHealth PLLC in North Carolina agreed to pay $327,220 in a civil monetary penalty settlement with the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG). Eventus describes itself online as a “healthcare organization that specializes in providing care to medically vulnerable adults.” According to the settlement, which was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, OIG alleged that Eventus billed Medicare for services it should have known were false or fraudulent. OIG alleged from Nov. 5, 2020, through Oct. 8, 2021, Eventus billed Medicare with CPT codes 11056 and 11721 for services provided by a physician “that were not provided or were not medically necessary.” The settlement stemmed from Eventus’s self-disclosure to OIG. It was accepted into the Self-Disclosure Protocol in December 2021. Eventus didn’t admit liability in the settlement.
