Recent changes to US whistleblower provisions included as part of the Dodd-Frank Act have caused some conversation in the compliance community, for good reason. After all, nirvana for a compliance officer is an organization full of people who are comfortable speaking up and asking questions. One of the reasons none of us live in that nirvana, however, is fear of retaliation, and companies are increasingly looking at ways they can use procedures to protect employees who report suspected misconduct.
