Kansas doctor pays $5.8M to settle third False Claims Act case in 20 years

On May 30, 2019, HealthLeaders reported, “For the third time since 2000, a Kansas cardiologist has agreed to a multimillion dollar False Claims Act settlement with the federal government. This week, Joseph P. Galichia, MD, the former owner of Wichita, Kansas-based Galichia Medical Group PA, agreed to pay $5.8 million to resolve allegations that he improperly billed federal healthcare programs for medically unnecessary cardiac stent procedures from 2008 through 2014, the Department of Justice said.”
