This article will highlight the legal regulatory frameworks on anticorruption within the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Several companies have recently been implicated based on local laws as the UAE seeks to strengthen its reputation as a safe haven of international investment.
GDP
The gross domestic product (GDP) of the UAE in 2020 was US $354 billion (AED 1.3 trillion), making it the second largest economy in the Middle East (after the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).[1]
Corruption Perceptions Index ranking
The UAE remains at the apex for the Middle East and North Africa region in terms of its Corruption Perceptions Index rating, with the lowest levels of perceived corruption. Over the years, the UAE has steadily improved its ranking.[2]
