Recently I heard an excellent speaker give a very worthwhile compliance and ethics presentation, but with a startling qualifier. His presentation reminded us to pay attention to what actually motivates people and that behavioral approaches deserve our consideration.
But here’s the beginner caveat that concerned me. He said that of course, if there are sociopaths, we need to get rid of them right at the start. So while behavioral approaches work on average for people, the bad people need to be dispatched early. For him, this seemed to be the end of that point. Get rid of the bad people and then do what works.
